A Kids Piano Game Played on Real Keys

Most kids piano games are played by tapping a screen. In ChordRunner, children play a real keyboard or piano: a chord name appears, they press the keys, and their runner jumps over the obstacle when the notes are right.

How it works for a child

  • A chord name like C or G appears on the track.
  • Your child presses those keys on the keyboard.
  • Right notes: the runner jumps. Wrong notes: they try again.
  • Every level adds a little more, so it never gets boring.

Start with the practice mode

The practice mode has no lives and no penalties, and it shows the notes of each chord while your child plays. It is the right place for the first days: they look, press, and hear that it was right.

Which age?

The game shows chord names with letters, so it suits children who can read letters like C, F and G, usually from about 8 years old. Younger children can play with a parent next to them, in the practice mode.

What you need

A USB MIDI keyboard is the easiest: plug it in and the game finds it. An acoustic or digital piano works through the microphone. No keyboard yet? The on-screen keys let a child try it first.

Common questions

Is there a piano game for kids that uses a real keyboard?

Yes. ChordRunner reads a USB MIDI keyboard or listens to a real piano through the microphone, so children practise on the instrument they will really play.

From what age can kids play?

From about 8, when a child reads letter names like C and G without effort. Younger children can play with a parent, using the practice mode that shows the notes.

What does my child need to play ChordRunner?

A browser (Chrome or Edge) on a computer, tablet or phone, plus a USB MIDI keyboard, or a piano or guitar the microphone can hear. The on-screen keys let you try it first.

Is everything in the demo?
