C Sharp Minor Chord on Guitar (C#m)
To play C#m on guitar, lay the index finger across fret 4 and add the other fingers. Then strum from the 5th string down: the notes C#, E, G# ring together. Here is the shape, finger by finger, plus the chords you will play next to it.

| 3rd string (G) | fret 6: C# |

Learning C#m step by step
- Put the shape down slowly and pick each string once to check it rings.
- Take the hand off and put the whole shape back at once, ten times in a row.
- Switch between C#m and E for one minute, then try F#m.
Making C#m ring
- A string buzzes? Press right behind the fret, not on top of it.
- Pick the strings one by one: the silent one shows which finger to lift a little.
- Sore fingertips are normal at the start; short daily practice fixes it.
Play C#m in a game
ChordRunner listens to your guitar: when C#m appears, strum it and your runner jumps. The game shows the chord symbol only, so you learn to find the shape yourself. MIDI keyboard or microphone, both work.

Is C#m easy on guitar?
It is a barre chord at fret 4, so it takes a little more strength at first. Start slowly, check that every string rings, then practise switching to E.
Which fingers do I use for C#m?
Index finger: across the strings (barre), fret 4, ring finger: 4th string (D), fret 6, little finger: 3rd string (G), fret 6, middle finger: 2nd string (B), fret 5.
Can I practise C#m with the microphone?
Yes. ChordRunner hears an acoustic or electric guitar through the microphone, and also a USB MIDI keyboard. It shows the chord symbol C#m, not the diagram, and checks the notes you strum.
Your instrument is the controller.
ChordRunner is a browser game that teaches piano and guitar chords: a chord appears on screen, you play it on a real instrument, and your runner jumps. MIDI keyboard or microphone, both work.
