Piano Game App, Any Device

ChordRunner is a piano game app that runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to download from a store. Open it, connect your keyboard or let the microphone hear your piano, and play: chords appear, you play them, and your runner keeps running.

No account, no download. The demo has limited content. Advanced features are in ChordRunner Premium.

  • MIDI keyboard
  • Digital or acoustic piano
  • Guitar
  • Computer, phone or tablet

One piano game, every device

Phone

Prop it on the music stand and play an acoustic piano into the microphone, or on Android connect a keyboard with a USB OTG adapter.

Tablet

The big screen is ideal on the piano. MIDI over USB works on most Android tablets in Chrome.

Computer

The best setup with a USB MIDI keyboard: lowest latency, biggest view.

Add it to your home screen

Because it is a web app, you can keep ChordRunner one tap away without a store download: in Chrome open the menu and choose "Add to Home screen"; on iPhone and iPad use Share, then "Add to Home Screen". It opens full screen like any app.

Microphone tips for phones and tablets

Place the device on the music stand, close to the strings or speaker, and play at a normal volume. A quiet room helps the chord recognition; headphones keep the game sound out of the microphone.

Inside the app

The demo has limited content. These advanced features are in ChordRunner Premium.

Chord levels

From the first four chords to 13ths, one family at a time.

Adaptive mode

The app watches your hit rate and adds harder chords when you are ready.

Your own practice

Choose chord types, a key or a progression to loop.

Boss battles and speed runs

Short, intense rounds that push your recall speed.

Live multiplayer

Play against others in real time, each on their own piano.

Guitar too

The same app hears a guitar through the microphone.

Piano game app or real practice? Both: the game only moves when you play the right chord on a real instrument, so the fun and the practice are the same thing.

Web app or store app?

Store apps need installing, updating and space on your device. A web app like ChordRunner opens from a link, is always on the latest version and works on the devices you already have. The trade-off is the browser: for USB MIDI keyboards use Chrome or Edge on a computer or Android device; on iPhone and iPad the game listens through the microphone instead.

Best setup by device

  • Computer + USB MIDI keyboard: fastest response, biggest screen.
  • Android tablet + keyboard by USB OTG: compact and portable.
  • iPhone or iPad + acoustic piano: no cables at all.

Your instrument is the controller.

ChordRunner is a browser game that teaches piano and guitar chords: a chord appears on screen, you play it on a real instrument, and your runner jumps. MIDI keyboard or microphone, both work.
