Bm string by string
| 5th string (A) | fret 2: B |
|---|---|
| 4th string (D) | fret 4: F# |
| 3rd string (G) | fret 4: B |
| 2nd string (B) | fret 3: D |
| 1st string (high E) | fret 2: F# |
From Bm to B only one thing changes: 2nd string (B): fret 3 → fret 4.
Practise Bm in three steps
- Place the fingers one at a time, then strum and listen to each string.
- Take the hand off and put the whole shape back at once, ten times in a row.
- Switch between Bm and D for one minute, then try Em.
Another way to play Bm
Same chord, different place: handy when the next chord is up the neck too.
Common Bm problems
- For a clean Bm, press firmly but close to the metal fret wire.
- If a note is dead, a finger is lying on it. Curve the fingers more.
- Sore fingertips are normal at the start; short daily practice fixes it.
Practise Bm with the microphone
Strum Bm near the microphone when it appears and the game hears it. On screen you see the symbol, not the diagram: that is how the shape sticks. MIDI keyboard or microphone, both work.
Play the demoCommon questions
Is Bm easy on guitar?
It is a barre chord at fret 2, so it takes a little more strength at first. Start slowly, check that every string rings, then practise switching to D.
Which fingers do I use for Bm?
Index finger: across the strings (barre), fret 2, ring finger: 4th string (D), fret 4, little finger: 3rd string (G), fret 4, middle finger: 2nd string (B), fret 3.
Can I practise Bm with the microphone?
Yes. ChordRunner hears an acoustic or electric guitar through the microphone, and also a USB MIDI keyboard. It shows the chord symbol Bm, not the diagram, and checks the notes you strum.
Your instrument is the controller.
ChordRunner is a browser game that teaches piano and guitar chords: a chord appears on screen, you play it on a real instrument, and your runner jumps. MIDI keyboard or microphone, both work.
