What Bbm7 does in music
- Bbm7 is the ii chord of Ab major, the iii of Gb major and the vi of Db major.
- As ii in a ii-V-I it starts the most common jazz cadence: Bbm7 → Eb7 → Abmaj7.
- Bbm7 has the same notes as Db6 (Db F Ab Bb): with Bb in the bass it is Bbm7, with Db in the bass it is Db6.
