Strings to play
x2100x: × = do not play, 0 = open string.
Which note each string plays
| 5th string (A) | fret 2: B |
|---|---|
| 4th string (D) | fret 1: D# |
| 3rd string (G) | open: F## |
| 2nd string (B) | open: B |
Slide this shape along the neck: fret 1 = Bbaug, fret 3 = Caug, fret 4 = C#aug, fret 5 = Daug.
Practise Baug in three steps
- Put the shape down slowly and pick each string once to check it rings.
- Lift the hand, then land all fingers together. Repeat ten times.
- Switch between Baug and B for one minute, then try E.
Baug higher up the neck
Players switch to this position to keep the hand in one area of the neck.
Where Baug is used
A common move is B → Baug → E: the raised note in Baug pushes up into E.
Practise Baug with the microphone
Practise Baug in ChordRunner: when its symbol appears, play B, D#, F## and the microphone or MIDI keyboard confirms it. MIDI keyboard or microphone, both work.

What notes are in the Baug guitar chord?
B augmented has three notes: B, D#, F##. On the guitar some of them are doubled on different strings, so all six (or five) strings sound like one chord.
Which fingers do I use for Baug?
Little finger: 5th string (A), fret 2, ring finger: 4th string (D), fret 1.
Will the game recognise my Baug?
If B, D#, F## ring together, yes: ChordRunner listens through the microphone and also accepts a USB MIDI keyboard.
Your instrument is the controller.
ChordRunner is a browser game that teaches piano and guitar chords: a chord appears on screen, you play it on a real instrument, and your runner jumps. MIDI keyboard or microphone, both work.
