Bsus2 Chord on Piano (B Suspended 2nd)
Bsus2, the B suspended 2nd chord, is the major triad B with its third D# swapped for the 2nd, C#. Its notes on the piano are B, C# and F#. Expect a sound that is airy and modern, with no third to say major or minor.

How Bsus2 is built
Start from B, which you may already know, and change one thing: lower the third D# one whole step to C#.
Start chord: B
| Note | Step | Interval | Keys from B |
|---|---|---|---|
| B | 1 | root | 0 |
| C# | 2 | major 2nd | 2 |
| F# | 5 | perfect 5th | 7 |
Bsus2 in every position
Same notes, different order. Pick the position closest to the chord you just played.
Root position: B C# F#
1st inversion: C# F# B
2nd inversion: F# B C#
Which fingers
| Right hand | B C# F# | 1 2 5 |
|---|---|---|
| Left hand | B C# F# | 5 4 1 |
A second name for the same keys
Bsus2 and F#sus4 are the same three notes. Stack them from B and you read Bsus2; start from F# and the same keys read F#sus4. The bass note decides the name.
Keys and moves for Bsus2
- Bsus2 works in the keys where B already lives: B major, F# major and E major.
- It often comes back to B or slides to Bm, because without a third it can lean either way.
Practise Bsus2 in four steps
- Say the notes out loud while you press them: B, C# and F#.
- Switch between B and Bsus2 ten times without looking at your hand.
- Alternate root position and 1st inversion, keeping shared notes still.
- Last, meet Bsus2 mixed with chords you already know, in an order you did not plan.
Keep each session short and frequent and Bsus2 will become automatic.
Turn Bsus2 into a reflex
ChordRunner shows a chord symbol and you play it on a MIDI keyboard, a real piano through the microphone or the on-screen keys. Suspended chords have their own level, "Suspended (sus2/sus4)".

How do you play Bsus2 on the piano?
Press B, C# and F# together. Right hand 1 2 5, left hand 5 4 1.

Where is Bsus2 used?
Bsus2 works in the keys where B already lives: B major, F# major and E major. It often comes back to B or slides to Bm, because without a third it can lean either way.
Can I practise Bsus2 with a MIDI keyboard or a real piano?
Yes. In ChordRunner a USB MIDI keyboard is detected automatically, and an acoustic or digital piano works through the microphone. The game checks that B, C# and F# sound together.
Your instrument is the controller.
ChordRunner is a browser game that teaches piano and guitar chords: a chord appears on screen, you play it on a real instrument, and your runner jumps. MIDI keyboard or microphone, both work.
