Ab6 and Fm7
Ab6 has exactly the same notes as Fm7. Put Ab in the bass and it sounds like a major chord with a sweet 6th; put F in the bass and it is a minor seventh.

A short Ab6 routine
- Say the notes out loud while you press them: Ab, C, Eb and F.
- Switch between Ab and Ab6 ten times without looking at your hand.
- Alternate root position and 1st inversion, keeping shared notes still.
- Then test it in random order among other chords: recall under time pressure is what sticks.
Keep each session short and frequent and Ab6 will become automatic.
When to play Ab6
- Ab6 is a home chord: it replaces Ab at the end of a song in Ab major.
- It is also the IV chord in Eb major, a soft colour before going home.
