How do I build augmented and suspended chords?
Use the rule: aug: top note one key up; sus: the middle note moves to the 2nd or 4th. Start on any key and count the keys, black and white, to find the other notes.
Which augmented and suspended chords should I learn first?
Start with Caug, Csus2, Csus4, then the others in the order you meet them in songs you like. All 12 follow the same pattern.
Can I practise this chart with a MIDI keyboard or a guitar?
Yes. ChordRunner shows these chords in random order and hears a USB MIDI keyboard, or a piano or guitar through the microphone.
Do I need to memorise the whole chart?
Not at once. Learn the rule and three chords, then add one or two a week. Playing them in random order fixes them far faster than rereading the chart.
Your instrument is the controller.
ChordRunner is a browser game that teaches piano and guitar chords: a chord appears on screen, you play it on a real instrument, and your runner jumps. MIDI keyboard or microphone, both work.
